[Fluxbox] Can't start any applications
I'm installing Slackware 12.0 on my ancient (400mhz, 64mb) laptop. Everything's been fine so far. This is my first experience with Fluxbox and with trying to really trim Slackware, so I'm probably missing a package or something.
Fluxbox starts fine. I can click stuff and look at menus. However, I can't launch any applications. Xterm doesn't even start! Any ideas? |
Do you have logging enabled for fluxbox? If so can you check the log and see if there are any relevant messages? If not, it can be enabled by changing the startup entry in ~/.fluxbox/startup to something like:
Code:
exec /usr/bin/fluxbox -log "/home/steve/.fluxbox/log" |
Actually, I fixed it. I'm a complete idiot. I was missing a few libraries. ><

Cool :) I'm glad you got it working.

Thanks! So am I. I was afraid I was going to have to go back to DSL. Despite the fact that DSL is smaller in size, Slackware is running MUCH faster. If I can get a few more things trimmed down and a few others installed, I'll probably turn it into an ISO so I can use it on other old harwdware I use...or maybe even put it on this computer!

If you're looking for a list of Slackware resources, try the info here at LQWiki - it's well worth looking through.

Wow. That is actually a fantastic gem. I'm not sure how I didn't know about it. Thanks again, gilead!
