Wired Ethernet not working after deepin install

Hi guys,

I'm a linux beginner but not a complete newbie. We are trying to setup satellite internet and need an ethernet connection to complete the setup process. We only have one laptop and whilst wifi works fine ethernet won't even register a connection when the cable is plugged in.

"ip addr" gives a NO CARRIER error in terminal.
inxi finds ethernet card ok with JMC250 jme driver.

Help?

Thanks!

UPDATE: 'no carrier' suggested hardware issue. We took another look and now we are thinking it's our satellite cable.
Anyone else who thinks they might have a similar issue, our satellite antenna wasn't making any noise, which it should have been. Suggested something was wrong!
