Some Fn keys only work intermittently on Toshiba Tecra laptop with Deepin 15.5
Hi.
I am relatively new to Linux and Deepin. Been using Deepin now for roughly 8 months. On my Toshiba Tecra laptop the Fn keys - Volume (up/down/mute), Player (play/pause/next/previous) and the Brightness keys work once in a while. For instance the volume keys work only directly after login. Is there a solution for this? I have looked on the internet, but found solutions for Ubuntu and KDE. I am hesitant to apply these changes to Deepin. If anyone can help, it would be greatly appreciated! Thank you in advance |
Clean the keyboard with a can of compressed air or buy replacement is all I can suggest. They do go bad when cookies, cat fur, etc.... and coffee get spilled/scattered on em. Key contacts do wear out.
I only mention this because I have fixed left mouse click which was a physical problem on a Asus EEEPC 900. It required me to take the mouse pad apart. All is mentioned above because of the statement Quote:
Try this in Deepin for my curiosity. Post results in your next post. Open a terminal and type in. Then copy and paste in code tags < between the code][/code > the readout in go advanced reply toolbar. It is the hashtag symbol on the tool bar. Code:
inxi -Fxz Deepin is based on Ubuntu as far as I know. KDE is universal. I'd just make sure your found fix suggestions match the version of Ubuntu and KDE that you are using. I don't think this is software breakage though. But hardware breakage instead. Edit: Forgot my manners. Howdy and Welcome to LQ. |
@rokytnji - Thank you for the reply mate.
The keyboard: I use bluetooth keyboards and laptop keys and the Fn keys does not work with either. I forgot to mention that they keys do work on the Windows installation that I have as as a dual boot (for work). The keys were working on Deepin 15.4. Incidently Deepin is based on Debian currently. Thank you though, much appreciated! And thank you for the cordial and friendly help. Must say that is new to me on a Linux forum. Cheers |
I'm not sure what else you've tried, but I found these here that might have some things you could potentially try:
