Hi, I just installed Deepin a few days ago, and am very impressed. The only problem I'm having is that when I wake the computer up, I get a weird pattern instead of my wallpaper. Sometimes it happens also when I first start up, but it usually clears up by itself then.
What I've done: I ran driver update, and switched to the Nvidia driver that came up (340.96).
My system: Gateway GT5656, Athlon 64 X2 6000+3 - GeForce 6150se chipset- Ram: 6GB - (2) 500 GB 7200 rpm HHD's - Deepin 15.2 64 bit - Ubuntu 14.04 64 bit - Windows 7 64 bit - Nvidia 8400GS video card - UR-22 audio interface.
An intermittent problem is the most difficult to troubleshoot. It may just be that, on wake-up, the system takes a moment to resolve the wallpaper.
You might try looking in the logs in /var/log. Unfortunately, I don't know PCLOS's naming conventions; generally, I'd say look in the system or messages logs and in the Xorg log for starting points.
Thanks for replying. The last two times I booted up, it was OK. Hopefully it has resolved on its own. I hope so. This is the most elegant and well designed OS I have found yet. Ubuntu is the most stable, at least on this system. But Deepin is the most beautiful OS since Windows 7, in my opinion.
Unfortunately, the problem is back. I really think it's tied to my computer. It happens with some Linux distros, with others it does not. So, it's the interaction between my computer and the OS. Thus, my quest continues to be finding OS's where it does not happen, and stick with them.
Last night I was on Deepin, and it ran an update. I was a little confused, as it took a couple of hours. Today I learned why: it was actually upgrading, from 15.2 to 15.3. (Deepin has rolling updates). It apparently went smoothly, and Deepin is more beautiful than ever. You can now position the dock anywhere - top, bottom, right or left. I decided that top looks best, at least with the Mac look (called fashion mode). Many other improvements (see the Deepin site for more info). I was hoping my little wallpaper problem might be solved with this update. Unfortunately, not. But that is the only thing that is wrong. And it can be easily fixed, although it's a slight bother to have to reset the wallpaper every time you wake the computer up. Also, their forum is a little strange. I posted a thread about this problem, but it doesn't show up anywhere, except if I look in my private details. I think I may need a better graphics card to solve this issue. Anybody have any suggestions for a budget model, around 100.00?
