Deepin becoming less and less stable -- crashing during normal operation
 

I don't know what is happening at Deepin, but things seem to be getting worse not better with Deepin 2014.

I installed it several weeks ago and the installation went smoothly. For the first couple of weeks I had minor problems -- an occasional crash -- and some little things like icons disappearing from the dock and rearranging themselves without input from me.

I've asked some questions on the Deepin forum (not here) about when certain features would begin working (for example, the ability to change the icon set) and the response has been "soon." However, today, there is not only not increased functionality, the OS has become unusable for anything serious. I haven't been able to exit Deepin 2014 normally for the past 2 days. Instead, I will have Firefox open, and suddenly the screen will dim and freeze. After a minute or so, the screen unfreezes, Firefox disappears, then the dock disappears, and I can't access the Control Center. The only thing I can do is restart the computer.

At first, I thought Deepin was great. It seemed to have some minor problems, but I expected the Deepin team to fix those in the coming weeks. Instead, things have gotten worse and worse. I wanted to recommend Deepin to some friends, but I held off until some problems were fixed. Today, I'm not only not going to recommend it to anyone, I'm about to quit using it myself. I can be patient while bugs are worked out, but it seems that Deepin is making things worse not better.

Is my experience unique? Are others having similar problems?

Deepin 2014.1 will be released on Wednesday, which will solve the problems you said.

So, Deepin will release Deepin 2014.1 on Wednesday. Well, it is Wednesday and when I go to the Deepin website to download Deepin's ISO, it looks like the download is still the same Deepin 2014 -- no mention of 2014.1.

I've noticed that Deepin is not very good about responding to queries or keeping English speaking users informed. I realize that language can be a problem, but what I'm asking for is quite simple. When a Linux Distro announces the release of a new or updated version, it makes sense to me that the announcement would include specific information, which would include:

The date -- Deepin has said Wednesday -- I assume that means Wednesday, August 27.
The time -- No information at all.
The URL where the download will be available -- Again, no information.

So far, Deepin has only released the first of those three. It is now late on Wednesday in China and I -- in the US -- have no idea where to download 2014.1.

I hope that the update is not supposed to take place using the Deepin Store -- since I am hoping the update will fix the Deepin Store, which does not work well on my computer at all.

Deepin 2014.1 has been released and you can directly upgrade from Deepin 2014.

after i installed linux deepin 2013 it won't let me do the software update states failed for over 4 hours i was gonna upgrade from that to deepin 2014HELP

Please install Deepin 2014.1, because repository of Deepin 2013 has been deleted by ubuntu. here are the download page:http://www.linuxdeepin.com/index.cn.html
