Red face Deepin 15.5 KMS error

Merry Christmass to all you. I am trying the recently released Deepin 15.5 in a Dell Inspiron 1420 in dual boot with Mint 18.3. In live mode it execs fine but once installed to hard disk it refuses to display the monitor in an apparent KMS error. Suggestions for previous releases failed for me. The workaround i found to make it run is using ctrl+alt+f4 after deepin logo appears. By this way you get a terminal window to login and then by using startx cmd you enter graphical mode. Has someone any suggestion to properly configure the bootage of Deepin?

Hi & Welcome to LQ.

Merry Christmas to you too!

If you could, kindly post the exact KMS error you are getting at boot up.

Ensure that the right run level is set so that Deepin boots to the gui login:-

-:::-IF the run level is set correctly you shouldn't have to keep using starx to get to the gui.-:::-

Red face KMS error

Thank you Ztcoracat. I can't grab a print screen but the message says "[11.996291][drm:drm_atomic_helper_commit_cleanup_done [drm_kms_helper]] *ERROR [crtc:26ipe A] flip_done timed out" and then appears another identical line where changes only the first number by [25.052282] and then appears the Deepin logo and then black screen and here is where i use ctrl+alt+f4 to get the terminal to enter startx. As i am trying Deepin i didn't install Deepin grub but continued using Mint grub. Really i don't know how does work a multiboot system (how control flows, i have win 10 in one partition, mint 18.3 in a second part and deepin in a third part)

Your Welcome.

Thanks for posting the error. I'll look that up in a little bit.

With the 3 os's that you have installed whatever you 'installed last' should have the boot and run the Grub Bootloader.

Boot up Deepin and post what is in this file. That is 'if' you have the file.

/etc/inittab/

What number is next to id:?

The flaw was solved by setting GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="quiet splash video=SVIDEO-1:d nomodeset" in /etc/default/grub and then updating grub. There is plenty documentation in the web about this flawness.

Glad to hear you were able to solve the issue by editing the kernel line.
