Basic Openshift question

regarding to the BuildConfig YAML code bellow:

Code:
source:
 git:
  ref: TCPuniverse-patch-1
  uri: 'https://github.com/TCPuniverse/simple-webapp.git'
 type: Git
strategy:
 sourceStrategy:
  from:
    kind: ImageStreamTag
    name: 'python:3.6'
    namespace: openshift
output:
  to:
    kind: ImageStreamTag
    name: 'tpython-app-1:latest'
I changed "sourceStrategy / from / namespace" from "openshift" to my project name but it didn't work. Although it worked before this change, but why? what does "namespace: openshift" means if that isn't my project name?!
