What certification would be ideal for me?

I'm 17 and have been using linux for the past 6 months, i'm now starting to feel confident with the OS. I would like to get a job in IT.
I am fairly knowledgable with netowrking, etc.
What examinations should I be thinking about taking, how much are they? Are there any that are UK based? I have tried googling on the subject and came accross LPI, however it didn't clear up anything.
Any help is most appreciated :D

To start with

Any certification and 75 cents will get you a cup of coffee. Having said that, they do open the doors, but just make sure you can keep yourself in the room:) I would recommend starting with A+ Its a good basic cert, that looks good on the resume, and 75-85% of the people that are fit to work for are going to look for it. Even with the Linux+ test they recommend you have ATLEAST passed the A+ core hardware. But if you are going to the trouble of takeing the hardware you may as well take the OS part, it's mostly windows, and the new test is a cake walk. When I took mine, I had to deal with 3.1 and 3.11 and I think I had a mac question or two. But now, I think it's win 95 and up with a "ix" question or two. After that I would goto Net+ and then Linux+ and that will get you in the door, then you can specalize out from there if you wish. Experance is the best teacher, but the paper seems to open the doors just a bit easier:)

Ergo

Is that for you?

I don't want to be dogmatic in my response but to be real with you those courses do little more than give you the answers to the test for a whole bunch of money, you are almost better off going to a braindump site at least thats free. cause niether one of those routes will make you a good tech and you learn soooooo little. You wont learn enough in that course to keep a job at best buy. A college course is good, refurbish some old computers push your self, the gaming community is an awesome reasource also, study exam crams, brainbuzz.com, forums used to have some great practice test back when I was working on getting certified. There are lots of free practice test online. You are on the right track Google it! oh yeah not to forget a good way to see what employers want look at a job board like computerjobs.com. there are a ton more but hey it can't hurt if you are trying to make a living doing this stuff. I dont know everything i just want to help some in your quest

Looking at the link I posted, I know everything on those... I feel I would only need a little to brush up on, maybe a bit on SCSI, I wouldn't say I need to learn anything new; i already know it :p

How much is it to take the examination?

Cheers
