I just passed the first exam. I was not too happy with it, even though I passed with an %86. I bought a really big book called "Sair All in one". Book is copyrighted 2001 and is the most recent version.

There was a lot of stuff that I studied and prepared for that just was not on the exam. There were also some exam questions that I don't really think were in the reading material.

All of the easy questions are what pulled me thru. Questions like "Mary wants to delete a file called mary_file, what command should she use to delete it?"

Well anyway, I'll quit complaining, I guess I should be happy, I passed with good score.

The SAIR certs have changed hands a few time over the last few years and have been revised. They are now with Thompson so they should be stable finally. It will take a bit of time for them to get reorganized so just be patient. New study material should be out soon after the final revision of the tests.

I'm glad to find others studying for SAIR exams as well. You can now get more information about SAIR from the Linux Professional group http://www.linuxcertification.org/contacts.htm. I'll begin my studies for the SAIR exams within the next few weeks. Currently I'm finishing up the last of 3 HP ProLiant exams. I do have the 4 (black cover) SAIR Linux books from the Thompson group needed to fulfill the Linux Certified Administrator (LCA) level I certification: 3X0-101, 102, 103, 104. Has anyone, who has taken the exam(s) used these books?
