RHCT vs RHCE -- who has taken both?

Hi All:

I took the RHCT exam today and aced it. :) I scored 94% on it. I kinda wish I had been able to take the RHCE exam, but my company paid for the test, so I couldn't argue with "free".

So to those who have taken both, was the RHCE significantly harder than the RHCT? I don't believe I can just take a "short" test to jump from RHCT to RHCE. I'll have to take the RHCE which encompasses some RHCT material. I did a lot of studying for the RHCT, but I have a years of experience using RedHat in a production environment for web hosting, source control (CVS), and as a database engine for our ERP application.

Their testing format rocks. Nothing simulates real world like putting you in front of a live system.

Thanks,
VHCG

it was harder yes, but if you got 94% you should still be able to do RHCE blindfolded. I only did the RHCE which as you know includes RHCT. AFAIR i got 97% on RHCT and 100% on RHCE. those marks don't reflect me saying it's harder, but i forget why i didn't get full marks on RHCT, i think it was just that as it is marked during the exam time, not after, i just didn't bother trying to work out what i hadn't done.

You should have gone direct for the RHCE, you would still get your RHCT, if you failed the second part and passed the first.

The RHCT part is easy, in my experience. I only took the RHCE but failed the RHCE the 1st time, but I did pass my RHCT. Took the RHCE again and this time I passed. Just go for the RHCE! Even though you may have experience with Red Hat systems, those experiences you mentioned, such as CVS and databases, aren't covered on the exam. You will have to learn about services you might not have experience with, such as mail servers and iptable.

I also like the hands-on testing approach for the RHCE. Either you know it or you don't!
