RHCSA lab question -- Deleted inittab but no errors on boot

Hi, I am using Damian Tommasino's Certification guide and I am having a bit of trouble on Lab 2 Task 2.
Here's what the lab is asking me to do
Code:
Step 1. Make sure you have your Red Hat installation CD available. On
RHEL02, delete the /etc/inittab file and reboot the system.
You will receive an error message that the system can’t find the file.

Step 2. Boot from the Red Hat installation CD into recovery mode.

Step 3. Replace the file from the CD into the correct location on the system.
Unfortunately when I delete the inittab file and reboot there are no errors on the system and boots perfectly fine.
I can switch runlevels without issue.

Using CentOS6 on vmware. Any help?

Is the guide you're using for 6 or 5 ?

The guides for RHEL6 but they have notes here and there for rhel5.

Also --correction on post, running on Virtualbox, not vmware

Thanks in advance for your help!

RHEL6 uses upstart and /etc/inittab is no longer required/used

Would you have any other suggestion for me so I can still practice the lab? I have an idea of what upstart does but I do not have any practice using recovering files from the installation dvd.

Try removing /sbin/init ... that should break it
