Question RHCE self-study Lab

I want to set up a lab at home to study for the RHCE. My problem is that I want to build at least 3 or 4 machines, maybe 5 to practice installing RH enterprise and configuring various services, including web apps (apache, samba), firewalls, networking, and clusters I 've looked at many HCLs and the information is very useful. But I need a more general guide for building these servers. The HCLs seem to be to time consuming for each component. Does any one have any tips, websites, or suggestions on how I can better use the HCL on this site to accomplish my task? This lab will be initially used for RHCE, but will become an elaborate play ground for Linux development and research.

Difficult question. The HCL is designed to help you prevent mistakes - and is best if you're installing Linux on a large number of computers. In that case, you would want to invest the time to get things right.

If you're going to use a laptop or two, you might try www.linux-laptop.net. It collects the experiences of others with specific makes and models of a wide variety of laptops.

In general, the risk factor associated with installing Linux on most modern PCs is small. There are well known exceptions, such as winmodems and wireless cards.

Thanks,
