I dont have access to any trianing center as I am posted in a remote location for work. The only way to learn and prepare for RHCE is self study.

Does anybody know any Official or authentic CBT's for RHCE training.

I would really appreciate.

Thanks
Nauman

Linux + certification... the resentment

I don't know why people get so uptight about others coming to this site to get tips on the certification exams. While I certainly understand the idea that people shouldn't cheat, many people are just asking for a more focused study approach.

I bought the Linux+ Certification Bible but it didn't prepare me for the Linux+ certification at all. As a matter of fact, most of the study material out there is on the old XKO-001 exam rather than the XKO-002 exam with updated objectives.

I'm sure that CompTIA peruses sites like these from time to time to look for violators as well.

The certification industry, in some ways, is nothing more than a racket. How do you know if you actually failed the exam if you don't get the answers to it? There are people who use Microsoft, Linux, Novell, and Cisco everyday that can't pass the exams.

You need to have a focused study approach for those exams and rather than ending threads, those who have passed the exams should be a little more understanding for those of us who are still trying to pass the exams.

I don't want to cheat but I would like to know of some study material that gets to the point regarding the exam. CompTIA says that the Linux+ test is for someone with at least six months of experience with Linux --YEAH RIGHT!!

That test was difficult for me and I saw many things on that test for the first time that I had not seen in any of my study material.

I have six degrees including a Masters in Informations Systems along with my MCSE, A+, and Network+ certifications. I know HOW to study.

I just want to know WHAT to study.

I would appreciate any help my fellow Linuxians would care to give.

Thanks in advance,

Jim

Were you logged in as root when you attempted the 'chattr' command? By the way, having the immutable attribute set on the shadow file WILL cause the chage command to fail.

OKey, got it all...

Hai All,
Why people go for LPi and all I don't know but any ways certification surely helps, you can check this link for more: http://www.linux-watch.com/news/NS8086042393.html

Yes, There a certain amount of differences are there between RHEL 3.0 and 4.0
say, kernel versions are 2.6 in RHEl 4 from 2.4 in RHEL 3.0
from redhat-config to system-config
the introduction of SELinux (Security Enhanced Linux)
etc etc.

Let me know if I can help.

Check my blog at: www.rhceasy.wordpress.com

Thank you...

RHCE info

I don't know why people go for LPI and all but anyways it is always better to get some certs.
But when you go for RHCE and get it then people tend overlook the LPI and all. And as far as RHCE is concerned, it is all practical and real time hands on exam.

It's quite different from almost all other certs. No multiple choice, no simulation, complete hands on.

Question

Hello, everyone.

I reviewed the prep guide and the course outline, but I am still a little unclear on what the first section of the class covers. Quote:

"Service Management
Types of Services
Fault Analysis
SELinux control and contexts
Hands-on lab: Introduction to System Services"

Is this general linux stuff, or RH stuff?

I have some knowledge of linux sys administration (home network), but nothing about RH. I downloaded all the docs, manuals, etc., but I am really short on time. Can anyone give me pointers to where to find which of this is rh specific?

I know you can't discuss specific test items, per se, but any info would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance.
