Question LPIC vs. Linux +

Hey,

I am currently running a computer club on campus. One of our activities this semester is going to be recieving a linux certification. Most of us are advanced users in the windows envirnoment and "Linux" was only introduced in programming classes using vi or emacs. Please help me decide which cert is going to be the best for the club to start on. Also, which cert is more accreditted by others in the Linux community--Linux + or LPIC. I know the RedHat cert is very advance for us, so that is why we were looking into the basic level certs. Please respond ASAP with any suggestions or comments.

Thanks!

Hey, some Cert info....

The CompTIAs Linux+ are out with a new cert. (Beta testing now.)

From CompTIAs site (October 4, 2004)
"For the next eight weeks, anyone interested in demonstrating that he or she has the equivalent of six to 12 months of experience with the latest Linux applications can do so for $75 by passing the CompTIA Linux+™ beta exam."

I used the Linux+ certification along w/ Linux for Windows Admins by Mark Minasi (i think to learn Linux). I thought the combination of a look at linux from a windows admin world and the sybase book I used to really help me learn it.
Also nothing like installing/reinstalling the OS to really understand it.
