Does anyone know of a studyguide/book on LPI2 exams (201 and 202)?

Hi,

I registered with Prometric. On July, 15th at 8:30 I will be producing sweat...
Yes, I will try the 201 exam.
Sorry, no books. I think they are not necessary. Check snow.nl, but I would do a bit more than just what they consider.
Take some time to make a list of HOWTOs and web sites. Relate each one of them with an LPI objective. Set up two Linux boxes, one of them with dual boot for the Samba part.
No girls, no alcohol, no parties. On Saturday night the command line will be your company.

I have read a lot of threads about Level 2. Everybody says that it is easy if you have experience and study the parts you don't know by hands-on practice. Level 1 you got along with memorizing commands and their flags, Level 2 will test your experience.

Example: Troubleshooting
Read the Bootdisk HOWTO (around 38 pages if you print it out on A4 paper) and create your disk.
It works? If yes, go on to the next objective.

Don't waste money on book. Google is at your side.

Regards, Carsten

I agree with calutateo.

Study, read, experiment. And make sure you're quite familiar with various ways of cmdline stuff, not just the simple stuff.
Here, the scripts in /etc/rc.d is a good source.
Ohh, and don't forget to know some Linux/GNU history + the GPL!

I will reply on July, 15th after taking the test.
While studying, the Bootdisk HOWTO is quite challenging.
Check the weight as stated on the page http://www.lpi.org/en/obj_201.html

Hi,

IBM do some good on-line tutorials for the LPI. I've been through the level 1 material, but not sat the exam, so don't really know how good they are in that regard. But they have certainly increased my understanding and knowledge of Linux.

A link to the LPI level 2 tutorial is:
https://www6.software.ibm.com/develo...ation/l-lpi5/?

You do have to register, but it's all free.

Neil.

The snow.nl site ist quite good http://snow.nl/dist/xhtmlc/index.html
I recommand also cert21.com (you have to register to get access to the demo questions). Some of the questions are obsolete.

Regards.

Okay, today I passed the 201 exam scoring 680 points.

Recommendations:
Study eagerly, put all the knowledge into practice for it is worth it. A lot of people say you need at least whatever number of year of experience, no way. Study objective by objective dedicate a lot of time to putting it into practice. Make it work on your PCs.
Tough but fair exam.
2 questions were identical with those I found at www.cert21.com

Go for it.
Regards, Carsten
