Linux Certificiation?

Hey guys, I'm just curious, is there some sort of online cource I can take to learn a fair bit about linux. I can use linux, and install it, but I find its just me mainly using commands from a readme on the web. I want to understand indepth why certain things are used and why things are done and why certain things are not. Mainly i want to understand linux the way I understand windows, and I dont have the time to go back to school for that. So if anyone out there knows of any online or some sort of correspondance course I could take that would be just awesome if you let me know.
