Information about Linux + Certification.
 

Hello all. I'm going to start to study for my Linux + cert very soon. And i wanted to know if anybody has taken the exam? does the exam focus with issues for Red Hat and Fedora? or just basic things that can be applied toward any distro? I"m struggling with weather to install Mandriva 10.2 or Fedora Core 4 on this PC. Thank you for your time on this matter.

there are a lot of linux certifications out there... which one are you wanting to do?
ie: redhat, novell, lpi, sun (although that is unix), ibm...

I'm going to start off with the Comptia Linux + certification.

quite honestly you could email that company and ask what the exam covers...

if i am not mistaken the site lpi should list what it covers. i found a book online that covers everything but i lost some sections when i moved so now i am back looking for info. there are plenty of posts pointing to some good learning though. good luck.
i am using mandriva 2006 and since it is rpm based should be ok to practice on. i also bought a fresh HD to play on so i dont mess up my main system.:study: :study: :study:

Thanks for the replay back. I have been using SUSE 9.3, and Mandriva Limited Edition 2005. Will looking into the LPI stuff, also the 2006 version.

and click on objectives menu item. i took old version of exam and it required knowledge of rpm (red hat), deb (debian) and tgz (slackware) package management systems. new test might be different though.
