How can I prepare for LPIC exam? Especially for X Windows Objective
 

I want to know how can I prepare for X windows objective which include XFree86 and X.Org

I am unable to play with XFree86 till now. I could not understand how it works, that is how i have to install it properly and then what I have to do to configure it and use it. Thanks

I am not sure how to directly answer your question, but you could look for howto's and tutorials on the web.

A good documentation site to skim through is http://tldp.org.

Linux moving forward has mostly dropped XFree86 and has embraced X.org's version.

X is a major part of Linux (from a GUI standpoint) and you should start understanding Xorg.conf. This is the major configuration file.

I am not really sure if this answers your question, since you gave so little information. Maybe a more detailed explanation will give you more help.

I've taken the LPI level 1 this spring.

You should focus on Xorg, xdmcp,xdm,gdm,kdm related conf files (general and user specifics) and most important options in these files.
There will not be hard questions about these topics BUT you should know how to configure and tune them (basic options)


I do not recall question related to Xfree86..

By following the chapters from the book you will understand want you have to read about in other books/tutorials.howtos

It is not a hard exam...but it is for system administrators so make sure you practice commands,configurations

These two replies has cleared me one thing that XFree86 is listed in LPIC exam objectives but is not much relevant in current times. Secondly I will come back with more specific questions once I will practice the other tools for the X system. Thanks
