Certification Resources Online

A sticky Thread with Links to good online certification materials would be nice..

Your reading skills are failing young padawan. If you look at the top of the forum.....

:) Go nuts!

swapanroot 10-25-2007 10:30 AM

Would you send me some RHCE question set?

XavierP 10-25-2007 10:38 AM

swapanroot: we do not condone sending out exam questions. You will be better served by working on the course material and understanding it. Also, I believe the RH exams operate under an NDA.

Actually there are published sample questions and exams from the RHEC site. There is a PDF that can be here:

hI,

THIS IS NIRANJAN PLS HELP ME THAT I AM PLANING TO TAKE RHEL5 EXAM

TELL ME WHAT IS DIFFERENCE BETWEEN RHEL4 AND RHEL5

Jzarecta 11-30-2007 11:48 AM

Read the syllabus. Main difference between the version is the naming of the system-config... tools and the YUM repositories.

RHCE Study Guide for RHEL5

Here is a study guide I created after taking some of the official Redhat classes:

http://systemnotesorg.blogspot.com/2...for-rhel5.html

Note: The exam is all hands-on, so don't expect easy answers. These are just the official objectives listed, and notes to help study for them.

I hope it's helpful to someone...

proprofs.com has lots of good stuff for everything CompTIA, including Linux+

but Linux+ is not a very high level certification

RHCE Flash Cards

Here is an updated study guide in html format.

I cleared out any copyrighted material, so there should be no objections from Redhat. It is just a list of commands, files and procedures that should be helpful when working with redhat linux, or attempting to pass the RHCE exam.

Hey guys,.. I am sorry if I am posting in the wrong section but here goes my question. I am trying to build a VMware client machine on my VMware Workstation to use for practice for my RHCE Exams,.. I have done the following.
1. Installed CentOS 5.3 final
2. Installed VMware Workstation and everything is working fine.
3. Installed Guest OS of CentOS 5.3 final to use for Exam Simulation,..

Now to the problem,.. I have 6 partitions in the guest OS as follows,.. from df command and "p"print on fdisk

df

Filesystem 1K-blocks Used Available Use% Mounted on
/dev/mapper/VolGroup00-LogVol00
1967952 258484 1607888 14% /
/dev/sda5 1984016 78948 1802656 5% /home
/dev/sda3 1984044 123400 1758232 7% /var
/dev/sda2 3968124 2805144 958152 75% /usr
/dev/sda1 505604 16955 462545 4% /boot
tmpfs 127772 0 127772 0% /dev/shm

"p"print on fdisk

Disk /dev/sda: 26.8 GB, 26843545600 bytes
255 heads, 63 sectors/track, 3263 cylinders
Units = cylinders of 16065 * 512 = 8225280 bytes

Device Boot Start End Blocks Id System
/dev/sda1 * 1 65 522081 83 Linux
/dev/sda2 66 575 4096575 83 Linux
/dev/sda3 576 830 2048287+ 83 Linux
/dev/sda4 831 3263 19543072+ 5 Extended
/dev/sda5 831 1085 2048256 83 Linux
/dev/sda6 1086 3263 17494753+ 8e Linux LVM

When I delete /dev/sda6 and create new partitions /dev/sda6 /dev/sda7 /dev/sda8 /dev/sda9 it works fine but I cannot get to create a raid 5 partition and mount it. To make matter worse,. when I reboot,.. it goes to kernel panic. I have done everything by the book!! partition type,..write the partition in fdisk mode,.partprobe,.. mkfs,.. all in vain. I end up screwing up my partitioning system then I cannot boot into the OS again. I just have to revert from a previous snapshot always.
Any suggestion will help a lot. Also if anybody has a better idea on how to practice adding partitions, LVM, raid, swap for the RHCE exam please help. I do not have money to take the Redhat official Class. It is very expensive and my work environment is all BillGates!!!

Thanks Guys,.

Online training tutorial

Hi,

At "Linux Services Organization" there is a Linux server online training tutorial with questions and practical hands-on labs. Very useful information to prepare Linux RHCE or Linux LPI certifications.

Enjoy it.

InNomineLibertas 12-17-2010 07:47 AM

May I make a suggestion ?

Somebody (= some admin) should: Either clean up this thread, and post a hint at the top that people are expected to put their questions in a new thread. Or, if this is easier, make a new sticky thread containing the filereferences, and the hint I mentioned. And of course, my message here would be on the delete list.

TIA!

Hi all am writing my system admin exams and want to know where I can get study material online wil help a lot
Thanks

A small helpful link

Some might find this useful as it has been taken off the new lpic website:

also found by search for lpic2 snow

Trying to get material to pass an exam, any, on a budget is not easy; so much for education being a stepping stone equality.

Fred.

While studying for the LPIC exam, I've set up a CMS with a LPIC quiz script on my PC (XAMPP) to help me learn. I passed both exams (101 & 102) about two months ago and I've decided to put the script on a domain to help others pass the exam: https://mrtux.co.uk/test.html. You need an account (you do not need to confirm your email) because the script keeps your passing score on the DB.
My goal is to get the LPIC3 exam next year so I'll add the tests to the site in the near future.
Good luck & happy learning!
