I don't need it. :-) No one really needs it, except the boss who likes to hold the paper in his hand and gloat over how incredibly smart you must seem. It also helps with your paycheck, I suppose, but in the world of Linux/Unix, you either know it, or you don't know it. :-) And there's a lot to know. :-)

Hmmm took the RHCE at the beginning i saw SUN CERT TECHS cry ;-)>
passed the test with an 8 it's cool but took much study.
a hint in error resolving READ THE LOGS then act
you can find almost all sollutions in the logs.
ls -ltrh wil show the latest changed log file below.
also if there are none, then the logs could not be written then, so it must be mount or login (PAM) issues. use rescue disk and chroot

Yes but the RHCE test actually verifies that you DO KNOW how to run most common/important services on RedHat Linux. This is very important for enterprise acceptance of Linux... Also people who do pass the RHCE test are reported to know a lot. I have prepared for the RHCE (sitting in two weeks-wish me good luck). I can tell you that there was no way for me to believe that I am ready unless I got really comfortable in real world, running ALL of the services mentioned in the knowledge matrix. Preparing also made discover/use techniques that I did not like B4(Sendmail, SELinux...). Overall it is en enriching experience. And there is also the payroll benefits-:)

RHCE is like driver's licence, yes. But not like learner driver's licence. Were I live you get a learner's licence first (this could be Linux+ or LPIC1). With the learner's you are allowed to drive as long as there is a professional driver sitting next to you. Once you become experienced and confident in driving, you can take the hands on driving test(this could be RHCE or other practical Linux test at the same level).

so any RHCE are confidant and allow to be administrator from the first day

Personally I do dislike distribution specific tests, which is why I have been going for LPIC-2.

I passed the RHCE last week. It was tough, specially since I don't have real working admin experience. A lot of details. Also very long. To pass this exam you either got it or you don't. You can take the classes but if you don't understand Linux, there is no way in hell that you are going to pass this exam. Time is also a factor.
