Anybody taking LPIC-1 Exam soon ?

Hi Guys,

Just enquiring if there is anyone else out there who is planning to take the LPIC-1 exam or if you have taken the exam recently?

I would be interested in what sort of methods you are using to study?

Thanks!
Marios

I just passed the Linux+ about 2 weeks ago, which is powerd by LPI. I originally took the 101 exam about 2 years ago and just got around to the 102. If you have not yet payed for the exam, pay for the CompTIA Linux+ exam, then make sure you select the box to send your info to LPI and you will get both certs. You can then also submit your info to Novell to get your Novell cert as well.

Anyways, I used a few things to study and help brush up on topics I dont use often, such as the graphical environments being I don't ever work with those.

If you would like some of the PDFs I found then send me a PM with your email and I'll send them over. I do not have any braindumps but do have some third party PDFs that may help you review some of the topics and are completely acceptable within the CompTIA and LPI policies if you use a Braindump you risk losing your cert.

For the most part though, they are pretty easy, just dont get yourself to over anxious. This is a fundamental style exam and with the exception of a few questions they are all multiple choice and if you have a year or two working with Linux you shoudl be able to reasonably identify the one based upon the syntax, etc.. You dont need to know all of the specific options. You just need to know for instance, that find and locate will help you find a file but search does not exist(this is not an actual exam question but they asked some a long these lines). Gotta be careful when approaching these as it could put both of our certs in jeopardy if I feed you the questions/answers.

Hi Kustom42,

Thanks for your valuable feedback!

If the material is legal I will use it. If if it puts my certification in jeopardy i will most certainly not be interested.

Please clarify for me what are these brain dumps? If I may ask. I am unfamiliar with the term.

Regards
Marios

Basically ... go to lpi.org and look the objectives, find material, create practice environment(s)- one RPM-based and one dpkg-based ... and study.

Braindumps are basically a list of questions and answers from the test, companies pay people to go in and take the tests and remember as much as they can from the questions, repeat that 50 or so times and they have all the questions and answers.

If you still want the PDFs let me know.

Hi Kustom42,

I defiantly still would like the PDFs. Unfortunately I cannot PM you as I'm not a contributing member.

The brain dumps sound rather dodgy. I couldn't imagine having a qualification knowing that I didn't earn it myself. Ive been studying for months now and feel like im ready however extremely nervous on the other hand so any extra learning material will indeed be handy.

It it is not an issue you may email marios.efst@gmail.com

Best Regards
Marios
