I got my RHCE about a year and a half ago on verison 7.3. It was well worth it - and I'll definately consider renewing when mine becomes non-current.

As far as linux specific, I have my RHCE and Linux+. I think they can be worth it, but it depends on what you do and why you want to achieve it(them). I'm a network/sysadmin, so my various certifications server me well, but for many they're not really necessary.
|
I suppose when I say "worth it" - it means that it's not an easy test to pass due to the hands-on labs, and that the RHCE, to a potential employer, should probably actually have some merit in that a person possessing it actually does have some skill (or is just incredibly lucky).

I have LPIC 1, and planning to take RHCE in the next few weeks.

I have RHCE certification. It's hard, but good. I studied on my own for the exam and since I didn't know exactly what I'd need to know, I went down every rathole so to speak. Learned a lot. Needed almost all of it for the test, too. Especially need to have the knowledge down cold. You won't have time to figure out how to do basic admin tasks during the test.

I've been taking the RedHat Training Courses. My last one is this month (RHCE). The training is very good and I thought the RHCT test was really easy. I'm wondering if anyone has taken RedHat's classes and finished the RHCE. What I'm really wondering is how well the last class prepared you for the exam. I know the RHCE is a tough exam but the classes have prepared me pretty well so far. What would you recommend I focus on to augment the training?

I'm a RHCE, SUN Cert. Admin and learning now for the CCNA.
You will learn very much, is't really useful, but not so helpful to get a job, because many personnel managers have no idea about this, they are more impressed by an university degree, even it's not related to IT. |
sample papers
I m taking LPI, n m thinking about taking the exam. Anyone has a sample paper/ past exam papers that i can try out b4 the real exam?

I got my RHCE in november, was quite tough, excellent course via Red Hat in the uk, tutors were excellent, I have setup a site to help people studying for the RHCE. www.rhce.org.uk.

Thanks jalvin for this excellent site

Doctor of Electrical Engineering, taught CompTIA courses (and others) for 6 years. No certs. It's a shame, because I really think certs are (just one) measure of knowledge. Anyone who even tries for a cert is bringing us all forward, me thinks...

I'll be taking LPI102 in a couple of days. I've already got 101. Perhaps even take 201 next week (LPI are offering it at £15 at the LUD Expo in London).
