Wow Linspire is a great distro
I bought a new PC from Wal-mart (which is incredibly kewl BTW) and I am very impressed with the Linspire distro that came installed. It is fast, customizable and brilliantly done. Hats off to Michael Robertson.
Does anyone else here use Linspire as their Linux distro? I am so happy to dump my Windows 98 and join in this revolution of Linux. My girlfriend totally doesn't even know any commands. I totally pwned her with my knowledge of the kernal

I tried the live CD, and it was pretty good. I'm sticking to the 100% (maybe 99%) freeness of Fedora, though.

Hehe, I really liked this line: "My girlfriend totally doesn't even know any commands. I totally pwned her with my knowledge of the kernel". Anyways, that's good you found something you like, since there certainly are a lot of distros to choose from. Good to hear that those Walmart PCs with Linux preinstalled are out there.
Make sure to ignore anyone who says harsh things about Linspire, a lot of people don't like it because of CNR, or it not being free, etc, it if works for you, then that's what matters for you.

Those two things aren't mutually exclusive. I personally don't like CNR, but I believe Linspire is a great distro for many people--just not me. To each her own.

Ahhh, a girl geek! For years I have searched for one such as you
No really, it's great to know there are girls using linux out there are not just the stereotypical spotty, smelly, dandruffy, loner geek guy who orders pizza to the lab at 11PM and plays xpilot until sunrise*
(*this is based on real people I know!!)

Me, I'm a CNR hater, but you can get around that so long as you realize that Linspire is a scaled-down variant of Debian. You'll have to go through some dependencies, but you can build it more the way you want easier than you can, say, RedHat. I like the RPM, but am wondering why the flavor's so freakin' HUGE!
btw: after seeing Komakino's sig, I must put one side note here: Please don't call it the Redhat RPM manager, that's a redundant acronym, seeing that RPM stands for Redhat Package Manager. ![Big Grin](https://www.linuxquestions.org/questions/images/smilies/biggrin.gif)

Those are not "proper" redundant acronyms, but misused acronyms
New Technology (this is actually what NT means on the end of Windows NT!)
Simple Mail Transfer Protocol
If you want some redundant acronyms, try these on for size:
GNU--GNU, Not Unix!
WINEe--WINe Is Not an Emulator.

I always thought that Windows NT was Windows No Thanks or Windows NeanderThal.
And in anycase the motto from that Great University in Redmond is
"Yesterdays Technology Tomorrow"
or like a sign greating you at a typical Irish Bar
"Free Beer Tomorrow"
Cheers
