Want to use Linspire & get rid of Windows

Currently running XP, want to switch to Linspire 6. Will there be problems accessing mp3 & jpeg files on a shared external USB drive? Am using an AMD Turion64 processor laptop. Used Linspire 5 a couple years ago. Thank You,
Jeni08080

Should not be any problem. Most Linux versions will work just fine with shared drives, and mp3's and jpgs work just fine if you install the lame stuff.

Consider the Programs You Use First

My first response is "Do it now!" The thing that keeps me from jumping into Linux only is the handful of applications that require Windows... I am heavily into graphic design and Illustrator and Photoshop have not been replicated, thus I keep a Windows machine around. If you are switching from MS Office to Open Office you will find the transition to be very smooth. Web browsing and any other apps have comparable software, most of it free, you just have to dig around. Linspire itself is a very nice OS, easy to install and use. Freespire is the oepn version... The install was perfect, all drivers were recognized.

Enjoy!

I wouldn't go for either of those; there are countless other options that I'd rather take than Linspire or Windows. Though if it is needed (and if I get something for it), I can work with either of those. But "want to use" => something else.

That poll should have a third option like "something else" or "neither one".

Cheers to you Sniper

You have now given me a new project. I will set-up a Linux box with Wine and try to run all of my dear Windows programs. I will even try it with Freespire as OS to honor the originator of this post.

Thanks!

Photoshop 7 runs fine here with wine but there are problems with the 'cs' versions.

I agree with b0uncer though - there should be another option. I would go for another distro than *spire.
