Unable to run linspire 5.0 live CD
I have a AMD Athlon 64 3200+ and MSI RS480MII motherboard with 512 DDR. Whenever I boot the CD after some messages it shows "FATAL: CD search failed. Type "exit" to reboot" on typing exit it shows kernel panic.
I've fiddled with a number of boot options like noapic, noapm acpi=off etc. but no result.
Please help

I'm using the CD provided with Linux For You Magazine and earlier I'd tried to use the iso file provided by magazine Digit. But the error is same in both the cases. Any clue?

Unable to run linspire 5.0 live CD
I agree, my Linspire wont run either and i recieve the same messages as you do. I bought my copy of "Linspire 5.0 live" assuming that the installation would be more efficient and wouldent require much editing, however i constantly find myself changing the BIOS. Has anyone got any answers??? I haven't yet tried burning it at a slower speed but until then other answers would be very much appreciated.

I tried to boot my pentium IV Dell PC with LinSpire 5.0 live CD but, it did not boot properly. Further more it is very slow... it takes about 6-7 min to load all and after that also there is only white mouse cursor, with blank screen. I think my VGA is not compatible. Also there is not safe mode or any menu like Knoppix to choose from for low graphic or different resolution. I did not find LinSpire more interesting. I feel KNOPPIX is still the best live CD I have ever used.

there are definately problems with running linspire live. I got errors when booting, no sound, and some GUI errors. When I did a full install however, everything worked fine. Personally it's my favorite OS out there, even better theam Mac OSX Tiger or whatever its called. You just have to be willing to install it.

Well since he also states "assuming that the installation would be more efficient and wouldent require much editing" I'm guessing he bought the ESD version of Linspire Five-O.
And did you ever post about these problems on the Linspire forums ? If not then please do so (you can signup for a free account) the people there will try to help fix the problem and in the worst case Linspire knows about these problems and they can try to fix this in the next release of Linspire-Live! (and probable the install version aswell).
Oh, and if you make a post there, include your hardware specs and if you can find it the version of Linspire-Live or Linspire Five-O (like 5.0.325) so they don't have to ask this in their first reply ;-)

I can't comment on that.
You can ask Kendall about it.

Maybe you should put the same avatar up here that you tried to put up there and see how LQ likes it? I dunno what the stance on anti war propaganda is here but most forums based on Linux operating systems seem to want to steer clear of their users personal opinions on Iraq.

Well I really shouldn't bring my problems from that forum to this one but....
http://i24.photobucket.com/albums/c1...rag/avatar.jpg
is the avatar and it is not the least bit obvious or making any statement in and of itself. Same as numerous avatars over there. All someone had to do was ask me to remove it if it was a problem. But I will say no more since I do not want to make linuxquestions a dumping ground for linspire problems.
