Can you tell me where the 6 week trial is exactly? I can't find it.

OMG. That was the wrong URL. You want to go to www.nvu.com I am so used to inputting .org, as most linux-related sites use that appendage. Those guys seem to have a porn connection. Stay away. Go to the download page. The hoops you need to jump through are there. http://www.nvu.com/download.html
Sorry for the unintended typo.

If you are running LindowsOS, download and install the latest Beta version of Nvu from the CNR Warehouse with one-click!. If you'd like a free copy of LindowsOS, click here and use coupon code "imaNvuFan"

The only way they'll let you download is to get an account with them. When you get your account, you will have a trial at CNR. If you don't pony up after the trial, your CNR software becomes inactive. You gotta sign up and jump through the hoops. Follow their directions. You'll get your trial. Believe me, they want you to try CNR. Its their baby. They want you to taste their honey and get hooked. Remember they charge for this stuff, so if you want a free run, you gott jump through their hoops. If I were to give you step-by step directions, I'd have to sign up again to go through the screens. Not gonna do it. I haven't the energy to solve the install problem yet, so I don't know what CNR can do. So, if you read and foll ow their instructions, you'll get CNR.

The coupon code was a special offer to Nvu developers to get a copy of LindowsOS. If there was a 6 week trial, it was only a special offer being given for a limited time. This particular coupon code has since expired. The text from the page says:
Here's how easy it is to get your FREE copy of LindowsOS 4.5 Developers Edition now!
1. Go to the LindowsOS Shopping Page.
2. Click the button for either the Digital Download or Retail Box version of the LindowsOS 4.5 Developers Edition. Be sure and select the Developer's Edition, or the coupon code won't work. (The Digital Download version, normally $59.95, will be completely free to you! The Retail Box version, normally $69.96, will only be $10 plus shipping and handling!)
3. On the next page, simply click the button. When asked, enter the following Coupon Code: imaNvuFan. And then click the button. This will apply a $59.95 discount, and then click the button. Next, simply check out!
4. Once you've completed checking out, go here to download the .iso file you'll need to burn your LindowsOS installation CDs. (You can always find these files by logging into your account at http://my.lindows.com and clicking on the My Products link, and then CD Downloads. The coupon code is only good until February 24, but you can download your files at anytime after you've used the code to purchase LindowsOS.)
Installation takes about 10 minutes; you will have the option of installing to an existing partition or taking over the entire hard disk. For help using .iso files, burning a CD, installing LindowsOS, etc., please visit http://lindows.com/installhelp.

lindowskendall: Thanks for your reply on the test of Lindows in Miami, that was helpful. Did you get my LQ e-mail? I get a bit irritated when e-mails don't get answered, and I am a spam kill kicker, so I wanna know OK?

Yes. Lot's of people are using it on pre-installed machines and it works great. The pre-loaded machines are actually better because we can certify the hardware before it is shipped and make sure that everything is working. You can buy the preinstalled machines at Walmart (online), Fry's, PC Club, and www.koobox.com. The older machines may or may not work depending on your hardware setup. The minimum system requirements for LindowsOS are as follows:
* PC with 800 MHz or higher processor
* 128 MB of RAM (256 MB or higher recommended for best performance)
* Hard drive
* 1024 x 768 or higher resolution and monitor (3-D graphics accelerator card for some games, screen savers, etc.)
* CD-ROM or DVD drive, Keyboard & Mouse
* LindowsOS-compatible sound card and speakers or headphones
* LindowsOS-compatible 56 Kbps hardware modem, cable modem, or DSL modem
* Ethernet card for Internet/LAN connectivity
If your machine is older than 800 Mhz... you might get it to work. But, it is not officially supported. There are quite a few people in the Lindows.com forums who have reported installing it on machines like a 550 Mhz, 600 Mhz, 450 Mhz and even a 266 Mhz machine. It is possible. But, you might have to do a bit of tweaking on your own to get it to work.

Hi, I'm glad that you found it to be helpful. I did get an email from you and that is what led me to come here and post a reply in the forum. Sorry, if I did not answer your email right away... I have about 100 messages in my inbox now and I'm trying to catch up. I get tons and tons of mail every day!
If you have any other LindowsOS questions please post here and I'll try to get back to you ASAP.

I just purchased a KooBox Deluxe. I'm very pleased with it. For the money I paid, I think I got a nice little system that came without compatability issues. The speakers are a bit on the crap side though. The little 14" LCD (Scepter x4) is not that bad of a monitor esp. for like $140 or so extra. Oh - and the 1year CNR membership is nice. If anyone has more questions about the specs or whatever feel free to PM me.
