linspire mouse problem

Hi, being a complete linux newbie I decided to start with linspire. Everything installed fine, but when it loads up, the mouse movements are jerky. It seems to be the sympton of a lack of RAM but according to the system requirements 128MB of RAM is fine (I have a 800MHz CPU and 128MB RAM).

BTW I have installed Redhat onto this computer no problems - is there any way to check how much RAM etc linux thinks ive got? As it may not be detecting some RAM.

Any ideas?

Possibly, the mouse movements are jerky because your mouse may be detected as something else or, if
detected properly, then you might have change a few settings. First, set the accleration level of
the mouse to higher than what it is and sensitivity to lower than what it is till it works
perfectly.Secondly, if u have System Monitor, you can find out the amount of RAM Linspire has
detected. It should show you RAM that is available. If you have RAM shared with Onboard Video card
then, that much would be deducted and rest of the available will be shown.

Also, if it shows you around 6-8 MB less even after deducting with Onboard video card, then its because the kernel resides in the memory and cannot be swapped! It is important that you have more RAM 240 MB and just share 16 with the Onboard if you are not an ardent game freak!
