I use 4.5.374. All I have to do is to close the lid on my laptop and it hibernates. No manual settings or anything required. The downside is that it starts up slow from hibernate, but it keeps all programs, docs and such open.
The slowness of this operation is caused by the 2.4 kernel, but with Linspire 5.0 (currently in testing by insiders) it will be ALOT faster.

I put Linspire 4.5 on a new Averatec laptop and it installed fine, and runs OK. Only problem is a fickle boot. Sometimes it boots, sometimes no. Have to turn off and restart.
Also touchpad is hinky. A wave of the hand across laptop and mouse goes crazy.
Finally, won't do built-in wireless, and there's no printer driver that works with my Cannon.

I using Linspire 4.5.439, and I got a Cannon i350 printer. The Averatec laptop comes with a Intel Centrino chip with built in wireless.

Thanks for the tips. I should have checked my printer for Linux compatibiility before I bought it. But I'll see what I can learn with those web sites, and let you know what happens.
The lesson I learned is that you can't be on the bleeding edge with new hardware and expect Linux support.
