Those look like open source 32-bit SUSE files to me. The 64-bit version is DVD only. Besides, you would be better off with the retail version or at least the eval version instead of the open version. OSS has the fewest included packages. Check out this page: http://www.novell.com/products/susel...ions_eval.html
OMG so i have been using the wrong version this entire time...?
As I understand it, the eval version does not have a time limit. It is only "limited" in the sense that it is missing a few items included in the retail version. It is good for giving SUSE a good "evaluation." Perhaps that is why they chose that name.
Sorry, been away, look whatever problem you have had they shouldn't have to do whith whether you've been using 32bits code for an amd ? 64 bits Cpu. It should work either way. Why i said to try Slackware is because you seem to be interested in understanding linux, but everybody choose for themselves . It could be bad compilations before (the CD:s?) that freaked you out.
