Welcome to LQ, jschnebelt.
I understand that you are new and may not know the difference, so let me explain where to go to get the best response to your questions.
1. This thread is about erasing a hard drive. If you have a question about Yahoo Messenger, no one will look for it here.
2. This is more of an application problem than something related to Linspire (if that is what you are using), and your best bet would be to search for Yahoo Messenger and see what has already been written in other threads at LinuxQuestions. (There are many posts mentioning this.)
3. Now, a partial answer to your question.

Go to the Yahoo Messenger site and see what they have available for Linux. You will see that they have builds available for some Linux versions, although not Linspire. It has been tested on RedHat 6.2, 7.2 and 8 and 9, Debian Woody, and FreeBSD 4.5 (a UNIX clone, not Linux). The Debian version would be the closest, but it is not a precise match for Linspire.
