Thumbs up linspire has a new notebook.

I am sure that no one really cares but it shows there is at least some demand for the first product, so it has to be a good sign for linux in general. walmart

Actually went ahead and got this.
Laptop is a Balance CN4949, manufacturer website http://www.balance-digital.com.
Laptop has no fdd and has default 128mb ram, with 32mb of this ram used as vram in shared memory space leaving a slow 96mb ram.
30gb hdd was factory fdisk'd as 64mb /boot (??), 28gb+ / and 1gb swap (??). IMHO, one should definitely install at least 128mb more ram -- installable as a 200-pin sodimm -- to get any decent performance out of Linspire or any other distro. A 128mb+ usb2.0 thumb-drive also REALLY helps for booting and for troubleshooting.

Wondering which of these distros would be better for upgrading the Linspire on this laptop ??
- Xandros (Debian-like similar in some ways to Linspire)
- Debian from Knoppix (VERY Debian)
- Vector (very Slackware)

Any feedback??
