Wink Linspire

Hello All

I downloaded and burned a Freespire version 1.0.2, iso cd. I tried the live CD first and I was kind of impressed. I was able to get a cuppa, a light snack, then go back to the kitched for blueberry pie. Nineteen minutes late Freespire arrived to where I have to click on Accept to run this distro. I clicked on Firefox for the internet and three minutes later I was still waitng for Firefox to show up. I was full so I just went ahead and installed this distro and now I have no more time to get up and get something to eat. The distro runs as good as Linspire 5.1.427.

Cheers

Yep - 1.0 should run like 5.1.427 since it is based off of it.

One thing I have noticed about Linspire/freespire is that it is not very forgiving for older PC's. If you don't have a P4 (1ghz or higher) and at least 512 RAM it seems to run slow. I have used Linspire since Lindows 3.0. I also use Debian and Ubuntu as well as PCLinuxOS. Linspire tends to be a lot slower on some hardware.

Yah, big time.
The RAM is the biggest consideration; I've installed it on a PIII 550mhz with 768mb and it ran faster than a 2.4ghz P4 with 128mb.
