Linspire 4.5 and Linksys Network Adaptor
Hi! I've been a linux user on and off switching back from Linux to windows... I'm still not a linux expert tho... I barely kno any console commands and how the folders are organized are still a mystery to me lol.... but here is my problem: I installed Linspire and i want to go wireless instead of wired... I installed it here on my laptop and I am trying to get my Linksys network PCI card to work, but i cant get it to work.... I saw a tutorial on it, but that didnt work... Heres waht i have so far, i downloaded ndiswrapper and also the drivers and used ndiswrapper to install them. When i opened the Wireless Network Monitor from the utilties section, it says that the signal strenth is 100 ULTIMATE, but then it says UNAVAILABLE for the Local IP, and when i try to surf it doesnt work.... can anyone help me with this? thnx If you do reply with an answer plz explain it step by step becuz i will not understand linux linguo lol....

I'm in the middle of research on getting some wireless stuff going (haven't bought nothing yet), so all I can do is give you some advice based on that:
PCI card support for linux seems poor. I've decided it's not worth it for me.
Look on the linspire hardware compatibilites list (at linspire.com) for your PCI card.
Search this forum (whole forum not just linspire) for your model number, see what comes up.

Does the card work in the other distros?
Good luck!

I've just loaded Ubuntu on my old PC, entering the Linux world for the first time. I am also trying to get my wireless adapter (Linksys WUSB11) working. Have you had any luck since you changed to Ubuntu? I'd be interested in your experience.
