Lindows 4.0 Tri-O/S System Boot Question

Hello. I have Win 98 on 7.7 GB; MKD 10.0 on 9.8 and want to install Lindows 4.0 on the remaining unallocated patition of a 40GB HD. I boot now with Boot Magic, but I don't see any option in Lindows' LiLo boot manager during install that would allow three operating systems. It asks if you want to use the remaining space not used by Windows (I have Lindows 4.5 laptop running with Windows ME on a different computer and use LiLo as the boot manager because it over rode Boot Magic on install so I am afraid that will happen with this one and I will end up with a dual boot Win98/Lin4.0 and no way to get to MDK 10.0. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks so much. james91911:)

Installing Lindows will over-write MBR with LILO. Probably only Lindows and Windows will be available as boot options first, but adding Mandrake manually is a pita. After installation, boot Lindows and edit the file /etc/lilo.conf. Then right click the file /sbin/jiffyboot and remove the executable permissions.

Now Mandrake will be bootable. Just ask me if you need more specific instructions, but first install Lindows. Btw, if you're a CNR member I recommend you get the latest Linspire 4.5 ISO instead (it's under My.Linspire -> My Products -> CD Downloads).
If you're not a CNR member I recommend you get the LindowsPlus package since it's only $20 (temoprary offer) and includes one year CNR! You can buy several and each of them will add another year to your subscription. Normally CNR is $49 a year so this is a very good offer.
You can find the offer here: http://linspire.com/blowout.php

Btw, you know that you'll be able to get all the latest versions of Linspire as ISO's once they are released, as long as you subscribe to CNR...

Hello Ealm: Thanks so much for the reply and confirmation as to what to expect. Your thoughts on CNR are good ones and I did indeed take advantage of the current CNR offer, but two weeks ago when it was $25.00. I do have the Lindows 4.5 on CD and my reason for wanting to run the 4.0 version is because it will run with a slower CPU (AMD K6-2-500 or Duron 800). I have the 4.5 installed on my Lindows computer (AMD Duron 1.2 GHz) and now that I will have access to the CNR warehouse, I want to have backup copies of my programs on a second computer. Unfortunately, I have run into an installation problem on this computer (Error 6000 - Lindows not installed, reboot the computer) which will require a separate post before I can try your solution to this one. I will post new right now and hope to have this new install problem ironed out soonest, then come back here with the results of my editing of the sbin/jiffyboot file. Thanks again so much. james91911 :)

Linspire 4.5 will work as good as 4.0 on older computers.
The minimum recommendation (for both) really should be 500 MHz and 192 MB RAM.

Thanks Ealm - 4.5 it will be as soon as I get the error code 6000 fixed. Have a great day. james91911.
