I Have No Sound in Lindows 4.5

AMD k6-2, 333MHz, CS4235 sound card according to dmesg but I have no sound from my speakers when running this computer under lindows. Works okay under Windows98. Any suggestions on how to get the sound working?

Your volumes may be muted. Find the volume control mixer and try raising the various channels to about 85-90% (not 100%, or you'll get distortion).

Hope this helps.

Sound in Linspire/LindowsOS is designed to automatically enable itself at start-up, but on rare occasions where there is an issue you can manually configure it by doing the following: Go to L > Settings > Control Panel > Advanced Settings > Sound Server. On the General Tab, hit Test Sound.

If no sound is generated, go to L > Run Command > type "konsole" [Run].
At the command prompt, type "alsamixer" [ENTER].

Use [TAB] to move across. Use the UP / DOWN arrow keys to adjust sound. Return to the Sound Server page. Hit Test Sound.

To exit the mixer program, just press ESC twice and type exit at the konsole prompt.

Hope this helps.
