free linspire
I was able to get linspire for free about a year ago when I tried it. I just couldn't use CNR, so I used synaptic instead. Is there anyway to get Linspire free anymore?

Go to Freespire.org
Its Free and pretty similar to Linspire. I couldn't get my sound to work under it, so I gave up fairly quickly. Its a Live CD also, so you can test it.

Freespire is very similar to Linspire. Give it a shot.

Freespire 1.0 is based off of Linspire 5.0 v2. So you might find things a bit old. The good news is that they plan to be working on 1.1 soon. That should be out in a couple months.
With freespire you can use apt or CNR. It does not matter. To obtain commercial products such as the DVD Player and Win4Lin you have to go through CNR. The first thing I do is sudo apt-get my trusty synaptic. It is not installed by default. Hopefully that will change in 1.1. Both apt and CNR are supposed to be using the same repository in freespire.
