Dual Boot Modem Quandry
Hello: I have run into a perplexing problem on my dual boot Linspire 4.5 and Windows ME system. This is kind of funny because the shoe is usually on the other foot :-). I can connect my Linspire OS using the internal 56K V90 modem on Ser Port #1/Com1/3F8/IRQ4 with Ser Port #2 disabled or Ser Port #2/Com3/3E8/IRQ4 with Ser Port #1 Disabled. The modem is located on Com2/Ser Port #2 but will not connect on the Windows side. If I use Ser Port #2/2F8/IRQ3/Com2 then neither OS lets the modem dial. I can not get a dial tone using and Com Port described above. What am I forgetting here? BTW I do get an error 630 "No Dial Tone" on the windows side. I have adjust the speed (115K for both the modem and the Port) made sure the Com/Ser Ports match and used both DSN and auto settings to no avail. I am sure I am missing the tree in the forrest here. Thanks in advance for any advice/cross check that you can suggest. james91911
