Linare on a laptop
Hi, I have been trying out Linare for a week or so and decided to take the plunge and install it on my Toshiba laptop, which has built-in wireless. The install goes great, but the wireless is undetected. I know Linare is based on Fedora Core 2, so I also tried installing that, same problem.
I also have a PCMCIA wireless card, which sometimes works when the built-in doesn't, but in this case it is undetected as well.
The laptop is a Toshiba A15-S157, and the error message goes something like : "orinoco_cs failed to start, device not found " or words something like that. However, Mandrake 10 and several Debian based distro's have worked quite nicely with the same laptop.if anyone has any good advice, I welcome it, and thanks in advance.

Well, I found out a little, I'll post it in case anyone else sees this and is interested. I found a fix, for Fedora Core 2 at Fedorafaq I think dot com, not sure I don't have the link in front of me, but , in a nutshell, it says remove the wireless that Fedora " installs" then re-install it via internet config tool that comes with Fedora.
To be quite honest, I never thought this would work, but I did try it with Fedora Core 2 and son-of-a-gun, it WORKED! Now, the tools look somewhat different in Linare, so I'm not exactly sure if it will work the same way, I have got FC2 working so well that I am nervous about starting over with Linare, in case it didn't work. If anyone else has a laptop with wireless that would care to give this a try, please let us all know how it turns out.
Thanks and good luck!
