I must agree. I think, as a desktop oriented disto, Linaire is excellent. I had a few instances where my mouse went crazy (due to my switchbox), but other than that, no problems at all. While it's designed to be a desktop, you aren't restricted from turning it into a server yourself (i.e. Apache, postfix, etc.).

I would like to see some additions though. Mandrake style hardware and SMB mounting utilities would be nice. I think Mandrake does an excellent job in that area. Also, dump Mozilla and move to Firefox as a default. I know Firefox is based on Mozilla, and I think Mozilla is all fine and dandy, but you'd be pretty hard-pressed to find someone who doesn't think Firefox smokes them all (Firefox installed quite nicely BTW). Also, tsclient should be the default instead VNCviewer. Tsclient is more versatile with RDP, VNC, and XDMCP integrated as well as color depth settings and default screen size all in a nice GUI.

Other than those minor issues, this has been an excellent desktop distro. Highly recommended.

True, IE is faster to boot and display, but it is this way because it cheats. Most of the browser components are up and running when the OS is loaded, so it already has a head start from the integration. If Mozilla could do the same, it would compare much more favorably in that aspect.

Most likely because Microsoft has their source locked down, and available only to them. This is EXACTLY why the US DOJ, and the EU must keep and eye on them. The more products Microsoft ties to the OS, the more of an unfair advantage they will have.
