i know that libranet is what got me into debian and i think that it really has it's place in the distro world. i haven't seen that much of a difference, except libranet is a ton easier than straight debian.

hope to see others join in on the forum.

cheers.

Yeah!

Great to see my favorite distro has finally earned it's own forum. I'll be checking in on a regular basis.

Way cool.

I want to pass 2 extra parameters to the kernel during cd boot before installing. I want apm=off and no-hlt instruction. In other distros, I used to type in linux apm=off no-hlt
Can anybody tell me how do I pass this instruction to the kernel at the cd boot.

Also during setup, i will have to set these parameters to the kernel, so I also need the expert mode.

I'll take a guess:

Doesn't that method work with libranet? I guess you've tried it with no success?

To pass params to the kernel, add them to your /boot/grub/menu.lst file in the kernel line, as the scsi params below:

title Libranet GNU/Linux, kernel 2.4.21
root (hd0,8)
kernel /boot/vmlinuz-2.4.21 root=/dev/hda9 ro hdb=scsi hdc=scsi
savedefault
boot

They have a free version (2.7) and a new version that is much improved and worth the money ($59 US, I think), 2.8.1. It's Debian with a good install, and a good administration utility. Based on testing, but with some unstable packages thrown in, not that they are unstable, just from the "Unstable" branch of debian.
