Updating synaptic


I am a newbie and i was wondering how to update synaptic without ruining xadminmenu , i am using libranet 2.8

If you mean update it to a newer version, in the command line, type in apt-get upgrade synaptic. Or select it from the program list in Synaptic and select it to upgrade.

My experience of Synaptic (through RH8 & 9, admittedly) is that the menu is updated automatically.

yeah i meant upgrade the program , thnx for the quick reply
i thinck its better if i upgraded it through apt-get

Well, should you come across a similar question to this one, you can

seriously though, as you use Linux more, you will come across questions and think: I was doing that last week and I got it to work by.... or alternatively: oh yeah, they've missed a step. And then feel free to post the answer. Even if you can't solve the problem, you can suggest steps and then if someone more knowledgeable comes along, at least they don't have to go back to the start to try to solve it.

Eventually, the knowledge will come. To be honest, I use this boards search and Google's Linux pages to solve or make suggestions on most posts.
