ok to upgrade kernel on 2.7 classic?

If I upgrade the kernal on 2.7 classic, to kernel 2.6.x, will that wreck Xadminmenu, or anything else?

Is it worth doing?

I haven't installed 2.6 on my system but it should cause no problems. You cannot use adminmenu to configure and install any 2.6 kernel. It will only work for 2.4

From what I been reading, it will cause problems. Libranet classic will not let you install the newer libraries etc which are requierd by the 2.6 kernel.

I know you cant' use adminmenu to install a new kernel, but will installing a new kernel cause adminmenu to not function?

i am using libranet 2.8 and kernel 2.6.3 and adminmenu is working gr8 except the recompile the kernel part :)

The 2.6 kenrel need some packages from sid, so you will need to get them installed first. I think backports.org has them recompiled for Debian stable.
