Unhappy Module Hell

Hello all,
I recently decided to make the switch from FC to a debian based distro and decided on Libranet I got LN running like a dream, but decided to try my luck on Debian itself, after a 'fun' install i returned to LN but now in the install my sound card and ethernet card get detected fine, but the screen lists the modules as disabled... I cannot get the machine online, or get it to play sound. Please Help!!

The Libranet adminmenu tool, which is also available as xadminmenu in a graphical presentation, allows you to administer just about every aspect of your system, including module management. Try adminmenu or xadminmenu and look for the section about configuring devices or managing modules.

Another thing you can do, if your module isn't getting correctly defined and accessed is that you can rebuild the Linux kernel to explicitly support the device that it isn't correctly handling. I believe that the module related stuff will do this anyway, but there's probably 3 or 4 ways you could accomplish this, depending on your experience and preferences. If you're not very experienced at it, I'd start by looking for something to configure your network card and something to configure your sound card. Both can be found somewhere in the adminmenu, as I mentioned earlier.

Brian,
Thanks much, I eventually found the problem to be in BIOS, appearently someone had been messing around in there, damn plug and play OS was enabled, as well as some other settings being all effed up.
Thanks
Shane
