change Gnome logout to show more options

All I want to do is to change the Gnome logout prompt. If I am in as root then I get a box, when choosing logout from the menu, with the options of reboot, shutdown, or logout. When I am in as me, user, all I get is logout. How do you change this in Gnome 2.6 to show all the options? Or Gnome 2.4?
Thanks in advance.
