A tablet PC is probably a laptop or notebook that has features where a stylus and touch screen or digitizer can be used for mouse-like navigation. In addition, there are applications and features that permit the end-user to use the stylus to write on the screen as digital ink, character recognition, stroke recognition, and handwriting recognition. Another common tablet feature involves (a)screen rotation from landscape mode to portrait mode, and (b) automatic detection of this change with a corresponding change in X11 and X-desktop geometry. A tower or pizza-box workstation might have hardware that enables similar operation.
