Downloads - isos - Releases then pick the .iso file which has the browser you lie best.

If I'm reading it correctly, the choices are basically what browser is included. Presumably, that can be changed after installing.
Beyond the browser thing, the only options I see are direct download or torrent. If you don't have a torrent client, then just go with the direct download. |
At the moment you just choose the one with your favourite browser. Seamonkey has the same code base as Firefox, but is an "internet suite", with email client and html editor etc built in. It should be relatively easy to get almost all embedded video and stuff working in Seamonkey or Firefox, but not Opera. Opera is also a suite, is much more lightweight/faster, and has a lot of functionality built-in that people install lots of extensions in Firefox and Seamonkey to replicate. If you use Seamonkey or Firefox you will come across less pages that render incorrectly (because they're not designed for or tested with your browser) than if you use Opera. You might find some of the default behaviour of Opera disconcerting at first.
Dillo is extremely lightweight and not really suitable for general web browsing. If you want to use Firefox (this is easy), you could either use the Dillo iso, or the Opera one, so that you have two browsers :) There is little point in having Firefox and Seamonkey. All of these browsers (except Dillo) also run on Windows, so you could always check them out first. http://grafpup.org/iso/releases/grafpup-2.00-dillo.iso http://grafpup.org/iso/releases/grafpup-2.00-opera.iso http://grafpup.org/iso/releases/graf...-seamonkey.iso |
Is the listed md5sum correct for the seamonkey version?
Hi, leading on from this thread. Is the listed md5sum correct for the seamonkey version?
97da15bc7253932d9fe005c4608273fb grafpup-2.00-seamonkey.iso (http://www.grafpup.org/iso/releases/...afpup-2.00.txt) After downloading the seamonkey version, I get a different md5sum result c4bf6356a875a446e4f9b3f0aebb6f8c? (md5sum grafpup-2.00-seamonkey.iso) Has the current grafpup v2.0 been tampered with? Should I now wait for v2.01? Is there a mirrored site that holds the original v2.0 iso image? Please note, I tried several times with the same result occurring on each occasion. I've also downloaded other linux distros resulting with correct md5 sums. |
I don't know if the listed md5sum is correct, but I'm pretty sure I remember someone else complaining about it being wrong quite a while ago.
I think it is extremely unlikely it has been tampered with, but it is of course theoretically possible. Quote:
I don't think there's any indication of when Nathan might be back developing Grafpup, so 2.01 could be a long way off (or maybe Nathan will decide that working and raising a family and studying is just too much...). Hopefully he will be back soon, because a 2.01 would likely be a lot more polished, doing away with all the niggly bugs. |
Oh

Then I take it this distribution is pretty much on hold? |
Yeah, I think so. Nathan hasn't posted to his blog since August, and this is from his only post to the Puppy forum since then:

In June Nathan did get back into developing Grafpup a bit, and went through a couple of alphas to 2.01 beta, which I think is more worthy of being a final release than the 2.0 release was. A lot of annoying little things were improved, and I don't think any new bugs were introduced, so if you're going to use Grafpup you're probably better off using it.
I haven't been using it day to day though, so no guarantees. Personally I've finally decided to migrate from Grafpup 1.04 to Puppy 4.x when I get the time to set everything up the way I like :) |
Forgot the link
http://www.puppylinux.ca/tpp/Grafpup/ I've obviously been working on this assignment too long :( |
