Firewall, advice sought.
I started to install the Firewall supplied with Grafpup but aborted when I saw that the Firewall became operational each time the computer was switched on. Should this be taken literally or does it mean that it becomes operational only when Grafpup is loaded? I ask this because I want to avoid conflicts. My desk top is arranged for multi-booting. One partition has XP and another ME. These are heavily protected by Zone Alarm. There are another two partitions: one for Puppy and the other for Grafpup, neither of which have Firewall protection yet. I do not want two Firewalls fighting it out. Does anyone have any advice? I am toying with the idea of replacing my Actiontec wireless modem/router which has only a basic Firewall with a more modern one. This would allow me to do away with Firewall applications entirely. Does anyone have any views on this?

The Puppy firewall will only run when you boot into Puppy. Your other OSes are fine.

Many thanks for your advice. I thought that it would probably be the case but I wanted to be certain.

With a dual boot, the OS is dormant until you boot into it. So while in Linux, XP is inactive and vice versa.

And it's always good to be certain!

I fear I am back again! I did the default installation "successfully" but I cannot now connect to the net on Grafpup. I cannot see any way to modify the settings or permissions. I am ready to re-install the firewall again. Is there any advice?
(I am now on the net with another OS)
