Question Secure WPA Networks

I looked this up beforehand, and discovered data from two years ago. The Gentoo disc was not equipped with WPA support. Has this changed, and if so, how do I connect to a WPA network? If there isn't a way in the Gentoo disc, is there another Gentoo-based disc that has Speakup support for software speech that I can use?

wpa-supplicant is the program you need.

I'm getting an error to the effect that a four way handshake failed, and wpa_supplicant won't connect.
Here's what I've done:
#wpa_passphrase supernetwork thiswpakey >> /etc/wpa_supplicant.conf
#wpa_supplicant -c /etc/wpa_supplicant.conf -i wlp7s0
That's where the error happens.

Is the interface up and enabled (i.e. driver loaded and iwconfig up)?
Are you sure wlp7s0 is the interface name? Sounds more like the driver name. Do an ifconfig -a and see what the interface name is, typically it'll be something like wlan0
