Relevant handbook to use to install Gentoo

Hey all,

After some time spent on other distro, I would like to test Gentoo on a x86 machine.
So, I try to install a Gentoo.

However, I struggle to find a document I can follow during the install.
This handbook is said to be deprecated
http://www.gentoo.org/doc/en/handbook/index.xml

I followed the "quick install" one
http://www.gentoo.org/doc/en/gentoo-...ickinstall.xml

However, it seems some parts are missing as I am not able to emerge anything.
The guide says nothing about the make.profile file. So mine is empty and I don't know where to find one.....

It seems that reading the both guide
http://www.gentoo.org/doc/en/handbook/index.xml
http://www.gentoo.org/doc/en/gentoo-...ickinstall.xml

in parallel allow to install Gentoo.

I don't believe that handbook is actually deprecated.

Are you perhaps reading the warning for the historical releases?

I installed Gentoo just a couple weeks ago using the amd64 version.

Yes, but that is under the historical releases section. The ones above are maintained
