Recommended CFLAGS for my hardware

Hi guys.

I'm going to install Gentoo on the laptop with Intel Core i7-8750H CPU, and I'm going to compile packages inside LXD container for the Lenovo ThinkPad T400 with Intel Core2 P8600 CPU.

I have two questions:
1) Will -march=native -O2 -pipe CFLAGS be fine for direct installation on the machine with Intel Core i7-8750H?
2) Will -march=core2 -O2 -pipe CFLAGS be okay for the container containing compiled packages for ThinkPad T400?

Thanks.

as far as I am aware, these flags do seem to be adequate for what you are trying to do.

You'll want to get the output of resolve-march-native, you can get this with emerge app-misc/resolve-march-native

https://wiki.gentoo.org/wiki/Safe_CF...e-march-native

There's some more detailed examples of resolve-march-native here:
